Mount Tambora is located in lesser Sunda islands, Indonesia and erupted in 1816 (or 1815 i am not quite sure Ive gotten to different dates) with a VEI of 7 it killed 71,000 people 11 thousand directly from the explosion and made the year with out summer which killed the rest of the people by starvation because the ash blocked the sun so crops wouldn't grow so plants died therefor animals died and from that humans died that is the life cycle. mount Tambora is 8930 feet tall it last erupted in 1967 mount Tambora was created on a subduction zone. it is a composite volcano. Dompu and Bima ar the two closest cities to mount Tambora, but four villages are at the base of the volcano they are Sangar village, Doro Peti, Pesanggrahan villages, and Calabai village. it had erupted many times before but small eruptions and this eruption was not the last one so far but it is still a active volcano the last eruption was in 1967 but had a VEI of 0 so it was very small. mount Tambora is on four plates which are: the Pacific, Eurasia, Philippine and Australian. mount Tambora was dormant for 5000 years before it was full of magma and erupted in 1816(maybe 1815). people heard what they thought were cannon shots but was actually the volcano five days before it erupted up to 1,000 miles away. 3 years before the eruption Tambora started to have smoke come out of it. the eruption made an earthquake and tsunamis the tsunamis were up to 5 meters high.

Explain your use of geological terms, ie. what does the VEI mean? what is a composite volcano? What was the Year Without Summer and how did that impact human civilization?
