Mount. Papandayan, Indonesia

August 11, 1772

In 1772, Mount. Papandayan erupted in West Java, Indonesia. During this eruption Mount. Papandayan destroyed forty villages and it nearly killed 3000 people. The major cause of death for the 3000 people was cause of ash flows, clouds of ashes, and the NE crater collapsed in which an avalanche happened. After this eruption in 1772 the next major eruption that took place was in 2002, in which a crater wall collapsed.4

The eruption of 1772 changed the volcano in to a broad shape. 4 The two plate boundary that is closest to Mount. Papandayan are the Eurasian Plate and the Indo-Australian Plate.3 Mount Papandayan is also part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, and it contains active fumarole fields.5

Mount. Papandayan, is described as a complex strata volcano.5 It has several craters, one of the craters is called the "Golden Crater", or Kawah Mas. The reason that the "Golden Crater" looks gold is because of its golden sulfur. This crater has high temperature of fumaroles. The temperatures of several hundred degrees C.1

"Golden Crater"

Mount. Papandayan is composed of alternating of lava and ash. Papandayan also has rock debris, which was caused of eruptions over the years.6 Some of Papandayan's craters are mix of volcanic debris and rock, they all are in a different shape, and some of them have steep walls. These craters also emitting smoke and hot fumes. The 1.1km wide, Alun-Alun crater is the closest crater near the summit of Mount. Papandayan.4

After this 1772 eruption, there have been several episodes of collapse gave Mount. Papandayan an irregular profile. These episodes of collapse also gave out more avalanches, that the villages below a major impact. After the NE-flank collapse in the 1772 eruption there has only been two phreatic (non-volcanic activity) eruptions, from its vents.1

Hey Tiffany your papers really good! In the beginning paragraph you kind of repeating your words a little bit like using a lot of caused and ashes. Other than that I think it was good.
